They really are a pack of hypocrites. Not only that, but the Adsense team told me to put large ads above the fold & now I've been penalised. When I spoke to my contact at Adsense, she suggested I advertise with Adwords to get more traffic.

I'm no longer using Google for search, I'm fed up with the hypocrisy of them. The fact that their Adsense team can give you advise on how to lay out your ads, and Panda comes along and whacks you, which results in loss of business.

I'm a firm believer in your stats, for most sites that is. However I'd just like to offer up some stats from a website that I run, with a mainly teenage audience.

Here's the current traffic source breakdown for my site OneDirection.net:

1. Facebook (25%)
2. Twitter (13%)
3. Google.com (11%)
4. Facebook Mobile (9%)
5. Google+ (4%)

Interesting huh! What surprises me is actually how fast Google+ is climbing up our list of referrers. 2-3 months ago it was nowhere, but now we're actively using it as much as Facebook and our numbers are growing at the same rate (if not slightly faster) than Facebook.

I'm a firm believer that Google is still the best source of traffic so I agree with the main topic of the article, but I think social media has a higher prevalence the younger an audience gets.

Thanks. While most of my pages are clobbered in serps, two page still rank in the top five for competitive keywords. Any thoughts on doing a temporary 301, wait for google to show the new page in serps, then switch to a 302?

302s are just temporary redirects. They cannot pass a penalty across, they don't even pass links across. All it does is divert the user.

We have done this method several times and it works fine.

Regarding your forum post on 302s, I can't find anything on the web that asserts that a 302 redirect doesn't pass a penalty? Did you discover this through trial an error? How long ago did you implement the 302? I inherited a slapped site and would like to salvage a couple articles from it.
